Kilkenny cats are sharpening their claws this week as they prepare to take on Tipp once again at a much anticipated All-Ireland clash at Croker.

Well, the nerves are all a flutter for the Kilkenny team. The atmosphere is tense and the there is a palpable sense of excitement around Kilkenny city and county. And the county in particular has come up trumps with showing its support for the Kilkenny team.

In the end, perhaps not all that surprisingly, each of the four counties from the Leinster and Munster finals ultimately made it through to an All-Ireland semi-final.

Kilkenny head to Croke Park this Sunday for a repeat of the 2009 Leinster final clash with Dublin, on that occasion the Cats claimed their 66th title. Dublin hurled with their usual gusto but the Cats still won with a bit up their sleeve. Martin Comerford was the two goal hero on that sunny afternoon.

The Cats secured their spot in the Leinster Final when they defeated Wexford in Wexford Park on Saturday last. The home side started well and full forward Garrett Sinnott hit two good early points, but in the ninth minute Kilkenny found their feet when Richie Hogan won good possession and blasted the ball to the top corner of Wexford’s net.

This past week has been a strange one on the GAA front. Croke Park yet again gets another mid-season face lift. A player from Laois puts himself on a collision course with his manager over comments on Twitter.
